District Administration, Gurugram, & IILM University Gurugram, Haryana is jointly launching Mental Health Awareness Campaign on “Swasth Mann Swasth Samaj” from
14th December 2020 to 18th December 2020 to promote Positive Mental Health.

The campaign is aligned to WHO’s Theme of 2020: “Mental Health for all”. According to the recent data from WHO, 56 million Indians suffer from depression and another 38 million suffer from anxiety disorders. India accounts for 36.6 per cent of suicides globally. The Pandemic has further accentuated the need for mental health and broader programs involving psychologists, psychiatrists, behavioural scientists and community health workers to prevent mental illness and promote positive mental health.

Objectives

  1. To create awareness about Mental Health issues.
  2. To break the stigmas surrounding mental health by providing adequate information and bringing normality to the concept of mental health.
  3. To psycho-educate people regarding mental health issues.
  4. To provide psychological aid like individual or group counseling.

Outcome

  1. Awareness on mental health issues to provide helpful support to those affected in our families and communities.
  2. Reaching out to people through our planned initiatives and sessions within Gurugram.
  3. Providing a structured initiative to the individuals suffering from isolation, loneliness and other mental health issues.
  4. Bringing normalcy to the concept of mental health.
  5. Helping individuals to lead a healthy and holistic life.

The screen time for children in the age group of 5 to 15 years has shot up by 100% since the first lockdown. 84% of parents are worried about the increase in screen time for children due to the pandemic and social distancing norms,

The screen time battles at home are increasing and hence addressing parents about decreasing psychological wellbeing in children and teenagers is important.

Innovative strategies to tap the screen time and reduce the anxiety of parents and kids will be discussed in this interactive online session with an expert child psychologist.
