The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar marks Anderson’s second adaptation of Roald Dahl, after his animated take on “Fantastic Mr. Fox” and recounts the fortunes of a wealthy gambler (played by Benedict Cumberbatch) who masters the ability to read the reverse sides of playing cards. In our third Colloquium, a screening of this Oscar-winning short film (40 mins) will be followed by a discussion on its philosophy, themes, style, and impact.
