Program Overview
This course train you to create innovative and thought-provoking interior environments. You’ll develop practical skills, so you can create imaginative spaces that meet the needs and enrich the experience of modern life. You’ll also build your technical knowledge to help you practice professionally.
Throughout the course you’ll begin to shape a personal attitude towards interior design, which you’ll build upon on each module studied.
You’ll benefit from the university’s links with design studios, cultural institutions, entrepreneurs and community groups. They often set projects for students, awarding placements or prizes to the best.
Curriculum
Observatory skills | Introduction to Design industry and practices | General Aptitude Development
Will look at design for individuals and focus on physical making and prototyping of interior furniture and products.
Introduction to Interior Design media – methods and processes | Design objects | Design contexts | Critical and contextual studies
Will look at design for public interiors and focus on work and retail environments, digital skilling and professional practice.
Professional Practice Design Media | Design project | Critical and contextual studies
Will focus on career pathways into industry or give you the opportunity to develop design research.
The course also focuses on building entrepreneurship skills in the student to help them start-up and successfully run business to their best creative ability.
Industrial Opportunities
Apart from the Entrepreneur start-up for designers in category of Interiors, the career choices for students after obtaining Bachelors of Design (Interior Design) is to work as an interior designer for interiors of homes, offices, and any other form of buildings. There are multiple e-commerce websites offering MNC jobs in these areas. There is a more specialized stream also available for a career like Exhibition, Furniture, lighting, kitchen. IILM also guides students to be a part of Design Councils & Interior Designer’s council of India.
