Bhavya Gupta is pursuing a Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) in the discipline of International Organisation from the Centre for International Politics, Organisation and Disarmament (CIPOD) in the School of International Studies (SIS) at the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). She has earned her Master of Laws (LLM) in Human Rights Law from the National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore.
She is an experienced teacher and researcher in the areas of Human Rights Law, International Humanitarian Law and Constitutional Law.
She has worked as the legal consultant for the Digital Platforms and Women’s Economic Empowerment (DP-WEE) project with the LEAD at KREA University and the Indian Statistical Institute of Delhi (ISI Delhi), funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF). As a Research Fellow at the Centre for Law, Justice, and Development (CLJD) at the National Law University of Delhi (NLUD), she has collaborated on several projects with the Department of Justice, the National Commission of Women, and the Ministry of External Affairs. She represents India as a South-South Network of the Global South Researchers member and a Bergen Exchange Fellow at the University of Bergen in Norway. She is also a member and invitee of the Law and Society Association in the United States.
She is also Junior Research Fellowship awardee by the University Grants Commission and holds UGC-NET. She was awarded the ‘Best Contributor’ by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India-sponsored National Faculty Development Program hosted by Ramanujan College, Delhi University on Role of Ethics in Teaching and has been awarded merit by the United Nations for commitment to preserving our planet through actions and deeds. Bhavya Gupta has been invited as a resource person and presented papers at various institutions.
Most recently, she was invited by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to judge the quarter-final rounds for the Henry Dunant Moot Court Competition held at the Indian Society of International Law (ISIL) on September 23 2023.
